DICC news update 02_Nov_2020

Date: - Monday 2nd November 2020

To: DICC Members and supporters

Dear DICC Members and supporters,

DICC Members: Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Trinidad & Tobago, USA and Zimbabwe

Re: DICC update on its 10-year business plan

I endeavour this letter to find you, family and friends all in good health in one of the most severe pandemics of modern history with over 46 million COVID-19 cases recorded worldwide to date. Whilst everyone must remain vigilant, we must also aspire our members and supporters for a mega event to look forward to help rebuild our lives again.

In this light, with heavy heart, the DICC Executive Committee, have concluded with their business partners including hosts, marketing & broadcasting, that the DICC Cricket ODI World Cup will be postponed from November 2021 to February - March 2022 at the earliest date due to the uncertainty with increasing COVID-19 cases, quarantine regulations, increasing costs of social biospheres and the 12 month preparations required for a DICC World Cup. Rest be assured that DICC remains in negotiations with partners including ICC's Full and Associate members to host numerous DICC events in the short- and long-term future.

It's always good business practice to receive feedback from stakeholders and consumers so the DICC Executive Committee urges each of its 13 members to engage directly with the Executive Board especially as the AGM is postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic.

DICC is exploring new innovations and opportunities and would like to share further with its 13 members.  We have also received new expressions of interest from Cricket Association for Deaf (in) Qatar, to join our DICC membership list, Deaf Cricket Associations, ICC Full & Associate members are always most welcome to apply for DICC membership to continue the development of cricket for the most talented Deaf cricketers in the world.
